Ms. Rivas joined the Rocky Top teaching team in 2013, but has been a part of the Adams 12 community since 1995. Being that she is a native to Colorado, Ms. Rivas was a student in this district well before she ever began teaching in it. Her journey began at Tarver Elementary, continued on to Century Middle School, and resulted in her graduating from Horizon High School in 2008. At 16, Ms. Rivas accepted a job at Cherry Drive Elementary, where she worked as a B.A.S.E. leader until she began teaching in 2012. Ms. Rivas' first year of teaching was completed at S.T.EM. Launch, as a reading interventionist. Once that school year ended, she accepted a position here as a full-time Language Arts Teacher.
Ms. Rivas is a Forever Buff, and went to the University of Colorado at Boulder to obtain her Bachelor's in English Literature and also her Secondary Education Licensure. She recently graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver, where she obtained a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction.
Outside of teaching 8th-grade Language Arts, Ms. Rivas acts as one of the National Junior Honor Society sponsors, and the Instructional Leader for Rocky Top's English/Language Arts department.
When Ms. Rivas is not working, she enjoys being outdoors, and can be caught camping, fishing, and most importantly hiking. You may also spot her at a sporting event or country concert.
Ms. Rivas LOVES being a Grizzly, and is excited for another AMAZING school year!
