HOMEWORK POLICY

LATE WORK POLICY (Grade Level)
EXCUSED ABSENCES ·
In
accordance with Superintendent Policy 2.3.2, students shall be given a
period of at least the same number of days they were
absent, plus one additional day to make up the assignments. The make-up period begins on the next
school day following the absence. OTHER MISSED WORK If
student work is to increase learning and serve as an opportunity to show
what students have mastered, it is essential for assignments to be
submitted in a timely manner. It is
also our goal to teach students the importance of effective time management
and of meeting deadlines. With these
goals in mind, the grade level policy on turning in work late is as outline
below. ·
In
the academic areas of language arts, science and social studies, late
assignments may be turned in within three school days of the original due
date. These late assignments will
receive 70% of their original value.
After the three day grace period a grade of “0” will be given for
the missing assignment. If a student
does not have an assignment on the day it is due, we will require the
student to call a parent letting you know the work was not turned in. ·
Because
of the Everyday Math Program, the late work policy in math differs from the
rest of the core subject area. The
policy is detained on the next page.
Please read it carefully. ·
We
are very happy to assist any student struggling with an assignment. Study sessions are offered after school
(see schedule below) or help time may be set upon an individual basis. Please encourage your child to take
charge of his/her learning and ask questions when help is needed. ·
If
a student is absent during a long-term project, the work is due upon the
student’s return.
