Reading Logs

Reading logs are a WEEKLY assignment.  Students will turn in their logs every MONDAY and pick up another log that same MONDAY.  Logs are due EVERY WEEK, unless I excuse a week.  I will post any excused reading log so that parents are aware.  Please review the requirements, as they are different for Honors LA and 6th Grade LA.  Here is also a list of Sentence Starters to help the students think of ideas to write about.  Currently, the students can pick ANY GENRE they want.

A Reminder for Absent Students:

The district policy for students with an excused absence is that the student has the same number of days that they were absent, plus one additional day, to make up missed work.  If it is not turned in by then it is considered late.

The Language Arts Department's policy, as well as 6th Grade Policy, allows a maximum of 70% credit to be given to an assignment that is less than three days late.  If the assignment(s) are still not turned in after the three day grace period, they are then converted into No Credit (NC) grades.

Students who do miss class need to come before or after school, or by appointment, to speak with their teacher(s) about their missing work.

Class time is not for going over missing work.

*** Please review all of the rules and policies here at Rocky Top MS with your student.  You can find these in the beginning pages of their agendas.

A Little About Me:

This is my fourth year of teaching, second year teaching in Adams 12, and also my second year teaching 6th grade!  My husband and I live in Frederick along with our three dogs (Chewbacca, Kiana and Tumi) and cat (Stanley).  I love to travel, read, eat, play and watch sports, spend time with my family and friends, and I am also addicted to working out!

Here are some photos of me, my family and friends:

My husband, Amos, and I enjoying a Bronco's game.
