Hello Parents. Less
than a week to spring break…we can do it.
I have changed the due date on the world map project. I just felt that TCAP took it out of
everyone. Therefore, I held back some of
the coordinate sheets so that kids who did not finish it in class could spend a
little more time relaxing over the weekend.
The map will be due this Friday, so plenty of time.
Also, be asking to see the “Checklist of Activities” sheet
each night. This is the best way for you
and I to communicate about your son’s / daughter’s progress on the
project. Please sign in the column labeled,
“Parent’s Signature”. This should be signed each day one of the Activities is
due, regardless of whether or not I have signed. If I have signed, then the activity has been
completed to at least a Proficient rating on the rubric. If I have not signed, then the activity was
not completed and shown to me in class. Working together, I know we can get everyone’s
project in on time! Please let me know
if you have any questions.
Hello Everyone. We
are almost done with TCAP! During this
time, the students have been working on plotting a map of the world. This assignment not only solidifies the
locations of the world’s continents, but reinforces the important skill of
latitude and longitude. This assignment is due on Monday, March 18th. If they have used their class time in an
efficient manner, they should be about done with the assignment. If they chose to socialize rather than use
their time for the assignment, they may have a good deal of work ahead of them
for the weekend.
Our next area of study is Africa! We will be introducing the Africa Research
project this Friday to most classes. We
will be spending all of next week in the LMC as the students conduct research
on one of the many nations that make up the African continent. The project will culminate as a journal
written from the perspective of an African student. To see the project in detail download the PDF, “Africa Project Packet.” that is below.
We have broken the project into steps. Each step will have a due date. When the student completes each step, he/she
is to have their “Checklist of Activities” sheet signed by me. This is a great way for you to keep track of
their progress. I would ask that you ask
your son or daughter to bring home their Africa Project Folder each night (we
have provided a folder for each student for organization). You will notice that
there is a place for you to sign. I am
asking that you sign in the space provided on the day that each task is due
(for example, if Map One is due on March 21st, then on march 21st
you should sign off on that task, even if it is not completed. This will assure that everyone is aware of
what tasks have been completed and what tasks need further attention).
If you have any questions about the project or anything
else, please let me know. Have a great
